And at the risk of coming off as a concern troll, she’s cool with you posting her picture right? I ask because there are too many nasty people in the kinjaverse for me to feel comfortable sharing my own face (not even with sunglasses or in reflections in pictures of shiny cars), especially since it’s recently become even easier to stalk people’s activity here.

Oh yeah, I am active enough on facebook and kinja and instagram this stuff is all out there anyhow. Funny enough she barely even checks her email account. I have my face all over a few FP posts too and havent gotten any guff. How has it become easier to stalk?

Ok, if she’s fine with it then no worries :) There is no more option to prevent all your comments and recommendations from being visible to anyone who clicks on your kinja name. Myself and other folks have serious doxxing concerns, given the nature of my work and how one person taking umbrage to anything I say anywhere within kinja can now see everything I’ve ever said here. Many of us actually went through our own histories and started deleting things preemptively once that change happened, but now you can’t even delete past comments. It’s become apparent that at least one person already has a (false) idea of how I look and has attacked me over it, so yea.

This is why I hate the internet anyhow. Why anyone would care that much to find out who you are and what you are all about just baffles me. Philosophically I actually don’t care much one way or the other. My lady certainly doesn’t either. I just try to keep from pissing too many people off or pissing in anyone’s corn flakes and hopefully people just leave me be. I know that is putting too much faith in humanity. While Oppo has it’s moments of idiocy it is a pretty solid group of people in general. And our readership doesn’t extend very far beyond regulars unless something goes FP. We seem to be a lot less of a target than Jezebel and associated blogs. Regardless, thank you for reminding me. Also - now I am going to go stalk your hedgehog :D

Lol you joke but seriously I worry about even sharing my pets names, FFS. It’s scary out there, particularly as a woman with apparently not so popular opinions. I’m actually contacting the police regarding renewing an order of protection against someone I’d cut out of my life years ago finding me on Facebook (I’m really worried about how, since I’d made my profile unsearchable) and expressing a desire to see me again because apparently he found out I’ll be in town for my sister’s graduation.

Here is the problem with this, I will give you a little insight as to why you are still searchable. Hopefully it helps you in your quest for anonymity to the public. Depending on how long ago you set yourself to not show up in public searches it may be and is likely still in search engine results. In order to get around this you need to do a few things. Under settings you will find the ability to change your profile URL. This makes it so all of your current friends stay friends (the link is automatically changed internally on facebook) and whatever is still floating around out there for your old URL will go to a dead page. There is also restricted and blocking settings to place people on a list where they cannot see you at all from the blocked account. I have mine locked down fairly well just because I have alot of my kiddos pics there. All of my posts are seen by friends only, and ones not on the restricted list.
Anyhow, hope all that works out okay for you!

Off topic, but when I did a little research for my weekly ebay finds I found too few vehicles as I did my last one too recently and there’s been a German holiday in between. Anyway, I will create a little ‘ let’s tease 505 ’ post instead. Right here, if you don’t mind.

1990 300 TE
. Manual windows (all 4), automatic transmission. €408, 1 day left. Berlin. Not in an exceptionally nice condition, needs an inspection, brakes need work.
And a
very nice 1990 V6 XM
. Very nice condition. Again, with an automatic. These cars are suited to such a transmission though. Anyway, it’s buy it now for a serious price, but the ad mentions he’s open to negotiation. Recent inspection, lot’s of maintenance this month. 138k km. Trier, Luxembourg-German border.

That XM is gorgeous, and my knees are being evil today. An auto is looking mighty fine to me right now though in one of those. Too much loot to be spending for initial buy in. Even if he knocked it down a bit.

You know...there are times when I’m as a dude reminded of how easy I’ve got it just because I’m a dude. Like...this is exactly the kind of shit that would make me jump out of my skin, but being a guy means I’d likely never have to deal with something like this.

My girlfriend is my favourite subject to point my camera at, but I won’t post a single picture without checking with her first. Not so much out of concerns for doxxing (she has absolutely no online presence) or stalkers, it’s because I feel that it’s a picture of her so it should be up to her.
EDIT: I tend to enjoy reading your discussions because they’re rational and smart. You could teach a lot of politicians a thing or three.
